After weeks of planning, hours of tasting, and an unknowable number of phone calls to brewers confirming their beer would be there, the “Mostly Barrel Aged Beer Dinner” went off without a hitch. As usual, Scala’s Bistro and The Sir Francis Drake pulled of this huge feat without breaking a sweat.

Drake’s Brewing has a whole bunch of barrels, with a whole bunch of wild bugs running wild inside. Josh, the brewmaster, showed me around their brewing facilities in San Leandro, before leading me to the barrels to taste a few samples and work on putting together a blend for the Beer & Nosh Dinner.
