18 Reasons Homebrew Tasting
The 18 Reasons homebrew tasting was quite the success. I arrived at seven, to find the small space already packed with excited beer drinkers. After unpacking my brews, they seemed to be gone before I knew it. The biggest hit of the beers I brought seemed to be my latest brew, a Mai Bock. A traditional springtime german lager, these beers take much longer to brew, and must be temperature controlled through the whole process, even here in chilly San Francisco. Sadly, I don’t have a traditional german hillside cave to store it in – but I’m working on it. The toasted malt character was crisp and clean, and the yeast and hop flavors folded into the background – a sign that the cold storage has worked its charms.
Other favorites I got to sample included Rob’s Imperial Pilsner, Jason’s Belgian Strong Dark Ale Aged with Prunes, and the super-secret collection of Russian River clones that mysteriously appeared at the end of the evening.

Update: as Allan points out in the comments below, SexPigeon captures the moment perfectly. Notice that my bald head makes an appearance, again. I think SexPigeon is drawn to it like a moth to a flame.

Glad you enjoyed the pils! There’s more where that came from, and you’re welcome to it, if you dare cross that bridge. Looking forward to more homebrew swap-n’-tastes in the not-too-distant future…
