Booze Week in NY Times Dining Section
It seems to be booze week over at the New York Times dining section. They’ve got a wide variety or articles tackling both the tastes and culture of the modern drinker:
The White Russian and the cult of The Big Lebowski: “It actually is a good drink. It’s essentially a liquefied ice cream cone that you can buy in a bar.”
Bartending Philosophies: Slow food, meet cocktails. It even uses the phrase “farm to glass”
Cocktail Geeks: An exploration of the obsessions some people go to for the perfect drink. A lot of it sounds like my beer collection, but also reminds me of Bourbon and Branch, down to making your own ice – which I’ll admit, makes a huge difference. I love those one inch cubes that never seem to melt.
Scotch Tasting Panel: They focus on 12 year aged scotches. Also, be sure to check out the interactive feature.
This all reminds me that Avi took me to the unbelievably awesome Seven Grand in Downtown Los Angeles last weekend, and if you’re in the area, I highly recommend a Rye Whiskey Old Fashioned.
