I think I might finally be able to kick my Dynamo Donuts habit, but I’m not so sure that it’ll lead to me loosing any weight. Late last night I walked by the new Humphry Slocombe ice cream shop, and saw they were in heavy construction mode. I gingerly poked my head in, and was [...]

What to bring to a traif themed Chanukah dinner? (Besides latkes!) Why Bacon Candy, of course! Here’s how to make it.

After previous Hopsickle and lamb neck adventures, I wasn’t planning on revisiting either this soon. After a happy accident at the butcher where I wanted a shank, but thanks to a communication mishap, I ended up with a neck instead. Instead of asking to swap it out, I decided to run with it, and [...]

When I was at GABF, there was a constant, crushing crowd in front of the Lost Abbey, Russian River, New Glarus and Dogfish booths. As soon as the doors opened, thirty or so people would dutifully line up in front of their stalls, empty glasses ready. I can’t blame them – the best breweries in the [...]

Eli’s family makes latkes. But not just [...]

Sourdough baguettes with slow roasted Roma tomatoes, Blue Costello cheese, powdered bacon and homegrown Italian oregano, smoked in cherrywood. So Sean, what kind of beer would you serve this with?

I think this Mission Street Food thing is working out pretty nicely. The food is proving to be creative and delicious (more on that in a minute,) but it’s the idea and driving ideology behind it that get me really excited. They starting taking volunteers on the website, and in doing so, are really expanding MSF from an [...]

I’m really digging Saison beers these days. Especially the ones which seem to be laced with a hint of brett, and have that slight farmhouse funk without going overboard. (See also: The Bruery‘s Saison Rue, and Eli’s favorite, Ommegang’s Hennepin.) This particular bottle of Fantôme hit the balance perfectly – it was distinctly citrusy with a nose of belgium farmhouse [...]
