Yat’s Deep Fried Turkeys
On my way back from my new BBQ find in the Mission, I stumbled upon Yat’s, hard at work frying turkeys for Thanksgiving. All of the turkeys are injected with spices, then fried for about 55 minutes. They had just come out of the fryer and you could hear the skin still crackling on the street.
Fun Fact: it takes over fifty gallons of peanut oil to fry ten turkeys at a time.
Why would you want to have Yat’s fry your turkey for you? Besides it being a great deal if you were just “renting” the oil for the hour to fry it, it can be a tad bit dangerous to fry in an enclosed, typical San Francisco yard. The excitement begins at the 2:30 mark.
